The AP’N3 Film Challenge is a creative competition where participants have three weeks to produce a three-minute film that includes a required theme, prop, location, and line of dialogue that are revealed on Day One of the challenge. This year there are TWO main categories, each with their own distinct requirements and timelines: AP’N3: No Borders and AP’N3: On Location.
In the No Borders category the participants imagine Asbury Park from anywhere in the world; while filming within Asbury Park is a requirement of the On Location category. In each category, completed films are judged by a panel of creatives and the top films will be screened for the public at a Premier Screening Event where prizes are awarded.
The city of Asbury Park is a visually imaginative subject, perfect for filmmakers as inspiration. The timed aspect of the format along with the required elements challenge the teams’ creativity and provides for a more level playing field.
It’s all about the experience. And if you’re interested in filmmaking, the AP’N3 is an excellent way to boost that interest.Noah C.
The AP’N3 seemed like a fun way to challenge myself and expand some of the things I learned in the commercial industry.Mark S.
It’s an opportunity to collaborate with people in new and different ways and really to express yourself creatively. When I saw my film presented in the theater surrounded by 300 other people it was one of the most exciting moments to think that my film could make it to the big screen and have that many spectators is very rewarding.Caryn W.
Anytime you get to make something out of nothing, it’s exciting, it’s invigorating and it breaks you from your day to day. It’s fun and it’s a chance to explore your own creativity. There’s no downside in participating in the AP’N3 Challenge.Matthew W.
I thought it was a fun thing to challenge myself because I hadn’t animated since I graduated from college and I ended up winning first place and I met all these people from it.Chloe E.
This was the first film I ever made, and being shown before a large crowd made me feel very special. It was a great opportunity and a moment I’m never going to forget.Elden H.
To be able to tell a story in three minutes is a really cool thing. People have cell phones and they’re taking videos for TickTock or Instagram but to be able to tell a story in three minutes is a skill I think everyone has. AP’N3 is there to unleash those skills.Paul K.
